Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden

Kansas City’s Municipal Rose Garden in Loose Park features over 3,000 roses of nearly 150 varieties on 1.5 acres.  The garden is maintained through a partnership of the Kansas City Rose Society and the KC Parks and Recreation Department.  The rose garden recently underwent a $400,000 renovation project, which included planting 1,200 new roses and restoring the beds to the original plans.  The Kansas City Rose Society holds special events and educational demonstrations in the garden.  Visitors enjoy sitting by the fountain with all the fragrances and beauty of the roses.  Extension Master Gardeners and other community volunteers work at the direction of Kansas City Rose Society and the KC Parks and Recreation Department to maintain the garden.
