Demonstration Vegetable Garden at Kansas City Community Gardens

6917 Kensington, Kansas City, MO

Extension Master Gardeners maintain two 25’ x 20’ plots at the headquarters location of the Kansas City Community Gardens.  Extension Master Gardeners select a different vegetable each year and grow an average of 25 varieties of that vegetable for demonstration purposes, measuring crop yield, plant vigor and general suitability for local use.  Vegetables selected for demonstration have included okra, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and beans.  In addition, the Extension Master Gardeners who tend the plots answer questions posed by other gardeners and participate in the outstanding good fellowship of the Kansas City Community Gardens.  Produce from the garden is donated to Harvesters and the farmers market at the Ivanhoe Community Garden
