Demonstration Garden at Platte County Community Gardens

10609 Tom Watson Pkwy, Parkville, MO

Located on the National Golf Course, the Platte County Community Garden is a collaboration of the Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City (MGGKC), the National Golf Course and the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. The garden has 30 plots open to the public, a large stone plaza area with seating, a multi-stage composting system and open areas for future development. Extension Master Gardeners planted fruit trees and berry bushes and maintain 4 large plots near the seating area, growing recommended varieties of vegetables for demonstration.  The YMCA administers the program and Extension Master Gardeners provide the educational component through spring planting classes and ongoing instruction in the garden. All produce grown by the Extension Master Gardeners is donated to Saint Therese Community Pantry in Parkville.
